On Sunday, April 7, The Post-Journal, of Jamestown, New York, released an article highlighting Persell Middle School’s video conference session with its counterpart school, Westside High School, in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Persell Middle School is a participating school in Educators of America’s Building Cultural Bridges Program that seeks to connect US schools to their sister schools in the Sub-Saharan African nation of Namibia through letter writing and video exchange.
The Post-Journal, southwestern New York’s flagship newspaper and source, highlights the interaction between Grace Johnson’s 7th grade class and their Namibian counterpart as they partake in the three-year Learning Technology Grant bestowed upon Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES and Educators of America.
The article further expands upon the professional development aspect of the grant including the involvement of project-based learning between both American and Namibian classes to identify challenges and collaborate to create sustainable solutions to them.
